Commendations For Our Finest

They serve and protect us day after day. Most don't even know what they are up against as they perform their duties. After all, we're a small town, what could happen here?

During the Richmond Village Board Meeting on Thursday, November 6th, we heard some of what our officers have taken care of as they were presented with commendations from Police Chief John Fryksdale.

From left: Chief Frysdale, officers Kuzmiak, Sink, Conrad,
Wrobleski, Wilson, and village president Lauri Olson.

Officers Anna Kuzmiak & Tom Sink:
Overall traffic safety enforcement, addressing DUI's, Speeding, Over Weight Trucks, Occupant Restraints including Seat-Belts and Child Safety Seats.

Officers Kevin Conrad, Anna Kuzmiak and Dan Wrobleski:
While off duty reacted to a business owners alert that a patron skipped out on a restaurant bill, the patron's accomplice broke into the office of the restaurant taking $600 cash and both fled. After an extensive investigation the 3 officers apprehended the suspects and charged them with Felony Theft, Theft of Services and Criminal Damage, all exceeding $2,500.00.

Officer Kevin Conrad:
Gathered suspect vehicle intelligence while on routine patrol and identifying possible suspects in a string of commercial burglaries. His efforts and attention to duty eventually lead to an arrest clearing multiple commercial burglaries in the area.

Officer Karl Scheel:
For apprehending 2 commercial burglars who were responsible for breaking into 2 Richmond businesses. His actions also lead to the clearance of numerous burglaries in surrounding jurisdictions.

Officer Frances 'Tripp' Wilson:
For his tireless research in obtaining equipment grants from ILEAS (Illinois Law Enforcement Emergency Alarm System) for 2 Motorola Star Com 21 radios valued at $9000.00 and 1 Night Vision Thermal Imaging System valued at $8000.00 (as the Chief said, so they can see the bad guys in the dark). Much needed equipment the agency could not afford to acquire via budgeted funds.

Sleep well tonight Richmond, you're in good hands!
