How to get to Richmond

Richmond is located just south of the Illinois and Wisconsin border and is only about an hour from the Chicago, Milwaukee or Rockford areas.

If you are planning a visit to our downtown area, especially during some summer months or for special events, you may need to plan for a bit of additional travel time due to traffic.

Route 12-Main Street is now freshly repaved and work for that phase of construction has been completed. However, April 1st has brought new construction to our area. The bridge over the Nippersink Creek, just south of our downtown, is now being rebuilt. They have kept 2 lanes open. One for north and one for south bound traffic. This should not have an impact on traffic in that area since it was already only 2 lanes. The corner at Rt. 12 and 31 is going through a huge redesign to better accomodate the heavy traffic it now has. We are not certain yet what those delays, if any, may be, but will keep you posted.

From Rockford: Take Route 173 east to Route 12 (Main Street) and turn right (south). Our downtown is only 3 blocks away.

From Milwaukee: Take 94 south and exit at Rt. 50 west. Take Rt. 50 to Lake Geneva area and get on Rt. 12 East (you will actually be traveling south). Continue on Rt. 12 until reaching our downtown.

From Chicago: Take 94 north and exit at Rt. 173, turn left (west) and continue through Antioch to Rt. 12 in Richmond (a 20 minute drive in regular traffic). At the stop light at Rt. 12, turn left and our downtown will be only 3 blocks away.

From the South/Southwest: Take Route 31 north, pass through McHenry and continue north. Route 31 ends at the stoplight of Rt. 12 and Tryon Grove Road. By continuing to head north (straight ahead), you will now be on Route 12. Our downtown will be about 2 miles ahead.

From the South/Southeast: Take Route 12 west through Fox Lake, then Spring Grove, and continue to the stoplight of Rt. 12, Rt. 31 and Tryon Grove Road. Route 12 West will turn right (you will actually be heading north) and our downtown will be about 2 miles ahead.

Please note that the area map shown is not to scale.
