Fresh evergreen garland, sparkling colored lights, our windows decorated with holiday delights.
Our shopkeeps will don outfits of old, we have warm yummy treats to ward off the cold.
We have helpful servers who greet with a smile, we might be old fashioned, but you can sure dine in style.
We have things that are old and things that are new, all the things on your list for your holiday crew.
For over 20 years the Village of Yesteryear businesses in Richmond, IL have helped create old fashioned holiday memories for all.

Many of our specialty shops will open at 9am on Friday 11/23 and Saturday 11/24!

Breakfast with Santa

Cost: In Advance: $5 per person
                                   + 1 can of food or a
                                   non-perishable food item.

Join Santa and his helpers for a special pancake breakfast to help welcome in the holiday season.

Held at Doyle’s Pub, downtown Richmond.
Saturday, 11/24 at 9:30am, and on Sunday 11/25 at 10am. Treat your child to a yummy pancake breakfast with all the trimmings.

There is a limit of 50 people per seating and tickets have been selling quick. You may purchase advance tickets at Doyle’s Pub or Skoopers and have a guaranteed seat with our jolly visitor.

Childrens Coloring Contest
1st Annual
Peoples Choice Coloring Contest

Have your children color the bells (or other designs available). They can use crayons, markers, or paint, and can add glitter or trims to sparkle them up. The sky's the limit!

Entry judging/age categories:
2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10+.

Judging:
Ballots will be available for the public at large to vote for their favorite. Voting can be done once a day. No purchase is necessary. Each of the age group winners will be determined by most votes received. Voting will end at 5pm on November 30 with winners being notified the morning of December 1.

Prizes:
The winner of each age category will receive a $10 gift certificate from the Richmond Business Partners redeemable at many of our downtown shops. AND, each will be featured on the front page of our website for the entire month of December!

Hot Roasted ChestnutsCharliesNuthouse.com will be roasting fresh Michigan Chestnuts all weekend on Broadway. Start a new holiday tradition with a delicious, old fashioned treat. If you have never had the pleasure of hot roasted chestnuts, be sure stop by for a free taste!

Charlies Nuthouse will also be serving fresh, hot roasted chestnuts out front! If you have never had them, stop by for a free sample!


And, from now until Christmas, many of our downtown shops will be staying open
on Wednesday evenings until 7pm! We have lots of gift ideas, treats and more for the 2007 holiday season.

Richmond Illinois Tree Lighting CeremonyJoin us at 5pm on Friday, November 23 at Stevens Park in front of the Gazebo (Main Street & Broadway) for the start of our tree lighting festivities.

We'd like to encourage children to bring an ornament they have crafted to help trim our community tree. We have put together some neat ideas to help get them started.

We will sing some favorite holiday songs and make sure everything is ready to receive our special guest when he arrives.

Breaking News: In our latest message from the North Pole, Santa's personal 'visit coordinator' has now confirmed his arrival for 5:30pm. She says he is very excited about his visit to Richmond and will be bringing along Mrs. Claus to enjoy our celebration. He send regrets that it is a bit early for Rudolph and the reindeer crew to be able to attend with them though. They are all in the middle of their extensive training for the marathon they run each Christmas Eve.


Carriage RidesThe Richmond/Spring Grove Kiwanis have arranged Horse Drawn Carriage rides from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The rides last about 15 minutes for a cost of only $25. The carriage stop will be located on west Broadway near the Charlies Nuthouse fresh, hot roasted chestnuts stand.

victorian Christmas House
The Richmond/Spring Grove Kiwanis have gathered together awesome designers who have added their special touch to the rooms of the beautiful Richmond Inn. Tour this wonderful Victorian beauty in all her holiday slendor on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. While the tour is free of charge, donations for the Richmond Food Pantry will be warmly recieved.

 

 


Sponsored by the Richmond/Spring Grove Kiwanis, children may visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Memorial Hall until 8pm on Friday after our official tree lighting, and again on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

Gift Wrapping ServicesYou've made your list, checked it twice, and now you have a bundle of packages to be wrapped! No worries, Santa's Little Helper is here to lend a hand!

Santa's Little Helper Gift Wrapping service is located in the lower level of Doyle's Pub. Bring in your packages to be wrapped and then trot upstairs to embibe in a hot drink, a snack, lunch or dinner. When you're finished with an enjoyable break, your packages will be all wrapped up and topped with a bow ready to set under the tree.

Santa's Little Helper will be available for all your gift wrapping needs starting on Friday, November 23 and continuing on until Christmas Eve. If you have loads to wrap, you may wish to call Santa's Little Helper Kierre at 815.678.3623 to schedule a convenient time to drop off and pick up large numbers of packages.

Bake SaleThe Richmond Food Pantry will be holding their annual craft and bake sale in the lower level of Memorial Hall on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Proceeds directly benefit our food pantry and all the wonderful work they do throughout the entire year.
